If you are a shadetree mechanic of any flavor you need you have a torque wrench in your tool box. Torque wrenches measure how tight you tighten (torque) a nut or bolt on your car, truck, SUV, CRV, boat, motorcycle or mechanical devices. When you tighten to the recommended torque the chances of under tightening where the bolts loosens and falls off or you tighten too much that you strip the threads are tremendously reduced. The most common “bolts” that have a manufacturer recommended torque are engine bolts, spark plugs and lug nuts. The torque wrenches I use measure the torque in foot/pounds or inch/pounds. Mine are actually torque ratchet wrenches. They can cost anywhere from $35-40 to well over a thousand dollars. Mine were definately on the lower price point.
